Progressive Agriculture Safety Day

The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day is North America's largest rural safety and health education program for children, reaching over 2 million individuals since its inception in 1995. The program targets children aged 4 to 13, offering hands-on, age-appropriate lessons on more than 30 safety topics. In Marshall County, the 2024 event focused on fourth graders and was held at the Marshall County Fairgrounds. The event featured eight interactive learning stations, including ATV safety, firearm safety, mental well-being, and water safety. Local volunteers, including FFA students, led the sessions. The program's goals include raising awareness of farm hazards, promoting safe behaviors, and reducing injuries. A total of 134 students and 12 teachers attended from the following schools: Center McMechen, Central, Sand Hill, and Washington Lands.
